Registering for an OpenAthens account allows you to access a range of UKHSA subscribed electronic resources including e-journals, e-books and databases, as well as NHS Core Content.
UPDATE 30/04/20: With the influx of staff working remotely at home, there has been an increase in people having problems accessing some of our resources. With OpenAthens people are reporting having difficulty accessing the OpenAthens registration page and/or login page in the following web browsers: Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. If you would like to register for an OpenAthens account we recommend using either Microsoft Edge (which should already be installed and accessible on your PHE laptop) or Firefox (which can be requested from IT using the ICT Service Desk).
If you do not have an OpenAthens account
Please register at NICE OpenAthens. By using your PHE email address and entering UKHSA as your organisation you will be automatically approved. You should then receive an email confirmation with a link to create your own password.
Changing your settings if you already have an OpenAthens account
If you already have an OpenAthens account with another organisation/NHS trust, you can log in to your current account from NICE OpenAthens. Use the yellow ‘log in’ link on the top right and on your homepage there is an option to ‘change organisation’.
This means you will have access to UKHSA Knowledge and Library Service’s wide range of electronic resources. For more information, see our Accessing resources page.
