Join us for the session where we will delve into an important topic: why Google might not always be the ideal platform for searching for evidence. With the vast amount of information available online, it’s crucial to understand the limitations and biases that can affect the reliability of search results. Throughout this session, we’ll explore key reasons why relying solely on Google may not lead to the most accurate or comprehensive findings.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

• Explain some of the problems with using Google to conduct an evidence search.
• Recognise fake websites and how to evaluate web pages in general.
• Understand that not all websites are created equal
• Recognise some of the issues that can arise when using Google Scholar rather than searching bibliographic databases (e.g. Medline).
• Have more confidence in using reliable information online.
