Day 5 – Meet the Science Evidence Review team

The Science Evidence Review team was set-up in January 2023 within the Knowledge and Library Services (KLS) to support evidence synthesis needs within UKHSA’s Science group. The team is composed of 3 Senior Evidence Reviewers (Beti, Zalaya and Matt) and one Evidence Review Lead (Daphne), and works very closely with Information Scientists from KLS.

We mainly produce rapid reviews, which use streamlined systematic review methods to allow a product to be delivered in a shorter timescale. They involve scoping, protocol development, literature searching, screening, data extraction, critical appraisal and synthesis of the relevant evidence in order to answer a specific question. We also apply our streamlined methodologies to conduct rapid scoping reviews and rapid mapping reviews.

Our rapid reviews are available from the UKHSA evidence review page on GOV.UK, including our rapid mapping review on the effectiveness of non-pharmaceutical interventions to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 in the UK published in September 2023.

More recently we presented some of our work at the UKHSA conference, you can for instance see our poster ‘health equity impacts of climate change in the UK: mapping the evidence’.

You can read more about our team, including how to request a review, on our page Science Evidence Review team.
